Community
Initiatives
"SAKSHAM" is a global organization of GE volunteers in which Indusians also play a vital role. Previously called as Elfun, Saksham members at Indus create and participate in different social initiatives that help improve our communities. Here are some of the activities we have undertaken over the past few years:
In 2006, we had organized a blood donation camp with Poona Hospital at our Bavdhan Facility. We got overwhelming response from all our fellow Indusians.
Our commitment towards social welfare got bigger in 2007; we continue to support Eklavya by providing them with breakfast facility on a monthly basis.
We funded 2 new projects
- Purchase of Table & Chairs for the school
- Purchase of Maps and charts for the school
We have now also tied up with Samvedana (NGO) started by few IT Professionals. We funded renovation of Laxmi Bakery Project at Saswad, Pune. This is a project run under the Kasturba Gandhi National Trust (KGNMT). Revenues generated from this bakery would be used to fund an exclusive girl’s orphanage which will house 70 girl children.
With effect from August 2007 we have started sponsoring full day meal program to the children of Eklavya Bal Shikshan & Arogya Nyasa (EN). The Saksham Team visited the school on 27th August 2007 for the Raksha Bandhan celebrations at the school.
We plan to work on more projects of similar kinds in this year where we try and do our bit to support the underprivileged.
On 12th January 2008, few of our employees at Pune Office attended the Annual Gathering of Eklavya Bal Shikshan & Arogya Nyasa and sponsored gifts to all the children. We utilized Rs. 25,000/- towards funding Round Table India for their Project "Freedom Through Education" which involves building schools and other infrastructure.
